Focus on operational impact: Driving Accountability in Training Compliance Across Regions
Aiming to increase compliance and accountability across global teams, this project focused on designing a training dashboard that helps leadership quickly identify overdue trainings by region, role, or business unit.
Due to NDA restrictions, I’ve substituted the client’s actual name with “Bank.”

Problem Space
Despite offering a wide range of training modules, this bank lacked visibility into whether employees were truly applying what they learned.
Managers also struggled to monitor training progress across their teams. Without a centralized view of completions, overdue sessions, or key milestones, leaders couldn’t proactively support development or hold teams accountable—making workforce upskilling feel reactive instead of strategic. Completion metrics were tracked, but there was no way to evaluate the actual impact on performance or growth.
Lack of real-time oversight
There was no easy way for global HR leaders to distinguish between mandatory and recommended training completion across locations, leading to delays in escalation and accountability.
Lack of transparency in escalations
Leaders were unable to clearly identify which business units were consistently behind on training, especially beyond the 30-day threshold. Most issues were buried in spreadsheets without trends or reasons visible.
Fragmented case history
Managers said they had to chase down spreadsheets, emails, and verbal updates to get the full story of an overdue case. We needed to consolidate this history in one place for each employee.
Our goal was to create a single source of truth for training progress, accessible and useful across HR, compliance, and local team leaders.

Targeted Audience
Key Stakeholders
🕵️♀️
Regional compliance officer
Role: Oversees training completion rates across locations and ensures teams meet regulatory standards.
Needs: Requires real-time visibility into overdue compliance trainings by region and the ability to track resolution status for escalated cases.
👩💼
Training program manager
Role: Designs and monitors training programs across departments and is accountable for delivery metrics.
Needs: Needs to identify trends, track training completion by business unit, and prioritize interventions.
🧑🏭
HR & risk governance analyst
Role: Audits training records, validates exceptions, and supports internal risk mitigation processes.
Needs: Looks for a centralized view to flag unrecorded or irrelevant trainings, update case status with proof, and report escalations.
Design Iteration
The need to represent the density of past due trainings
When managing compliance across global regions, stakeholders need a quick way to identify training performance gaps. While charts and tables offer detailed insights, they fall short in revealing regional disparities at a glance.
To address this, we explored different data visualization techniques and landed on a sequential color gradient map.
Ability to generate reports without using a different tool
In the earlier workflow, training status reports had to be pulled manually or generated through a separate tool, often leading to delays, inconsistencies, and a lack of visibility for business units. To solve this, we designed an integrated reporting dashboard where users can filter, analyze, and generate insights instantly within the same system.
Final features
Interactive map for global & regional visibility
This feature delivers a comprehensive analytics solution that empowers teams to manage employee trainings at both global and regional levels. Built with flexibility in mind, the dashboard offers a quick yet in-depth view of key metrics such as overdue trainings, completion rates, and risk zones, enabling better decision-making across the organization.
Scenario
A global training lead needs to assess which regions are falling behind on compliance trainings. With just a few clicks, they can explore overdue trends by location, drill down into age buckets, and prioritize actions, all within one centralized platform.
Final features
Resolve escalations without leaving the dashboard
To reduce delays and manual back-and-forth, this feature enables users to directly update training statuses and manage exceptions from within the same dashboard. With built-in options to escalate, resolve, and attach supporting documentation, the process becomes significantly more efficient and traceable.
Scenario
A compliance officer needs to resolve a long-pending overdue training that has already been reviewed and approved for exemption. Instead of sending emails or opening another system, they update the status, attach evidence, and close the case—all within one interface.
